"Cause sometimes I think I'm falling like a burning satellite..."

It's been a week (or is it two?) since the night of the gala - the night that everything changed and they can't go back to the way things were before. Malcolm had all but said he didn't know what he wanted to do going forward other than not forgetting what happened and Anna just... cracked. Fell apart a little more inside and recoiled from the sting of a rejection that she could see coming a mile away. He didn't even know about the worst of her baggage yet so it was probably better that they shut it down before she had to explain her brokenness.

Anna hasn't slept a decent night since and while she's tried to keep it together at Major Crimes, there's one place - and one person - she can't hide this from.

Seated at one of the Lab stations is a man about Anna's age with dirty blonde hair and a scruffy half-beard in a white lab coat and smiling sheepishly at the brunette detective who's fallen asleep next to him with her head resting peacefully on his shoulder. Two doubles back-to-back have taken their toll on Anna and now that her shift is coming to an end - and she can't do anything until results on her case come back - it's not a big deal that she's asleep.

Adam Ross - the lab tech and Anna's long time best friend - lightly drums a pencil against the tabletop and turns his head carefully to brush a feather light kiss to the top of her hair when she starts to snore.

One of his three computer screens flashes a notification and beeps to let him know that one of his tests is complete. He debates waking her up - she looks oddly peaceful - but when he thinks he sees someone approaching the door to the Trace Lab, he freezes. Mac went home to Christine hours ago. Danny and Lindsay are home with the kids. It could be Kendall or another tech and they're sort of used to things like this by now. It's been 15 years - every new hire is warned ahead of time not to ask about their weird touches.

7 PM.

Right on time. Most of the people for the dance have already arrived and filtered in for the event, except for Anna.

Anna, who did an extensive amount of research in order to make sure that every last detail of her hair, make-up, and green dress (to match her eyes) is accurate to what women would have worn in the 1940s.

Anna doesn't have to do this. It's not even like this is a date. Bucky talked about dancing and Anna told him she knew of a place. He suggested she come with so that he wouldn't get lost. Anna's a good friend. She offered to help.

Although she's starting to wonder if Bucky really is lost. Or maybe he got pulled away on a mission. Or he changed his mind.

Suddenly she feels pretty damn stupid. This is embarrassing, right? The authentic 40s look is too much. Maybe she can just ... leave and forget this embarrassment with a bottle of wine.

ARRIVAL;
[All of those times that Anna has sarcastically joked about being in hell have not prepared her for this entirely unpleasant experience. This is the stuff that nightmares are made of and the bloody contract in her hand isn't helping things. Sure enough, that's her signature below a list of her sins - in her own handwriting - and the fact that she has the worst headache of her life is more telling than she would care to admit.

How did she even get here? The last thing she remembers is... gunfire. Shattered glass. Sirens. A voice begging her to hold on. Jess! The ambush. She didn't survive the ambush, but maybe her partner did? Anna checks herself over for injuries and sure enough, there are splotches of blood on her shirt from where she'd been shot - an entrance and exit wound on her left shoulder and another identical wound on the right side of her abdomen, just below her ribcage. Except the wounds are all sewn up, as if she'd been patched up in the hospital.

Anna continues moving through the line robotically while her mind tries to wrap itself around the fact that she's really dead and that this is hell. The one that she never truly believed in. Maybe her mama was right and she should've gone to church. But Anna can't argue with the list in her hand.

What does she do now? Well, she'll just have to start with walking. Maybe she'll run into someone who can help her figure this out or maybe this is a whole new level of night terror and she'll wake up any minute now.]

[looking for]: Games/Memes/PSL mates; I'd love to find an Adam Ross (CSI:NY), Spencer Reid and/or Luke Alvez (Criminal Minds), Neal Caffrey and Peter Burke (White Collar), any MCU muses to throw Anna at, or just anyone interested in a PSL/GPSL. Pretty much just wanting to get back out there and make some connections.

[preferences]:
-medium/fast-paced tagging is awesome; backtagging is loved
-M/F for anything shippy, but I love gen as well
-prose or brackets, don't mind one over the other
-anna comes with some trigger-heavy subject matter, so someone who doesn't mind things a little darker and heavier at times is great
-I love mid-length to longer tags and try to give little details and insight into my character via descriptions as I feel like it gives the other writers more to work with and bounce off of. I'm not opposed to short tagging either. I tend to get wordy though, so I'd love someone who enjoys the same.
-I enjoy a good slow burn if a PSL turns shippy, but won't automatically assume that's the direction something is heading

After ~~15 years~~ writing Anna for so long, I've decided to change her PB from Eva Longoria. I've never changed her face since the day I created her, so it's weirdly emotional, but Erica Cerra is of Italian heritage and I think a fresh face could be good.

TL;DR: I'm going to be transitioning Anna to her new PB, so if things look weird all of a sudden, that's why. I'm going to try using Eva for current threads until they wrap, while using Erica for anything new.

PROMPT 01. ➤ ON THE VERGE OF A MELTDOWN

[It's hot. The kind of oppressive, thick heat where people feel like they're choking on the very air they need to breathe. That's the first clue that this isn't home. ~~As if there aren't at least a dozen more that she immediately latches onto, but the heat is what she's focused on.~~

Layers. Too many layers. It's early spring back in Manhattan and as such she's in dark jeans, a black tank top, long-sleeved green button-down blouse, and black blazer. Her hair falls to the middle of her back in semi-thick waves and she's already covered in sweat. Even her feet are sweating in her black work boots. She fumbles around her pockets for a hair tie and piles her hair up high on her head before securing it into a messy bun and tucking her bangs behind her ear. She strips out of her blazer, slinging it over her shoulder, and unbuttons her blouse entirely as she untucks the fabric from her pants.

Frick, it's hot. What is this, Florida? She knows it's not, because even Miami isn't quite so... neon. Anna finds a nearby building and presses her back to the wall, head tilting back as she tries to figure out what she last remembers. The cemetery. A headstone with the name of her dead partner etched into the stone. Jessica Angell. Beloved daughter, sister, partner. Killed in the line of duty. Anna remembers kneeling in the grass and laying down fresh flowers. It was the second anniversary of the ambush that killed Angell and put Anna in the hospital for two weeks. She remembers her eyes closing as she fought tears, and then... searing heat and neon lights.

Her left hand goes to her hip, to her holster and she breathes a sigh of relief when her fingers brush the cool metal of her service weapon. It's comforting - still being armed - and a quick survey of her person finds that her NYPD badge, handcuffs, and Crime Lab credentials are still undisturbed on her body. Sucking in a deep breath - more like choking on a deep breath - she tries to ground herself so that she can figure out where she is and how she got here. It's not a drugged and kidnapped situation.]

[It's pretty much an ungodly hour of the morning as a petite brunette in a black blazer and jeans shuffles into the nearly empty coffee shop. The sun isn't even up halfway yet but her body didn't get the message so here she is - looking slightly disheveled as she rubs her face and orders a large black coffee at the counter. She pays cash for the beverage, telling the cashier to keep the change as she grabs the drink from the other barista with a mumble.] Thanks.

[It. Smells. Amazing. Has coffee always smelled this good? No it hasn't but she's tired and it's not day-old precinct coffee. She's practically spoiled! Good coffee on a rare day off where she's not on call. Suck it, murderers. This detective isn't crouching over any dead bodies today. She's not really awake yet or paying attention to anything but the warmth against her hands as she grabs a random seat. There are plenty of empty seats, but she grabs one at the booth in the corner. The spot keeps her back to the wall and gives her a good vantage point for observation. Hypervigilance is subconscious now. It's hard to remember a time when it wasn't - and if she allows that train of thought to leave the station, it's going to be a very depressing day.]

For Haylie: MCU muses or X-Men muses; I've been wanting to play her in the MCU for a long time now, even though mutants don't technically seem to exist in the canon at the moment. It had been a long shift - mostly because it was paperwork - so the idea of going out for a drink was definitely appealing. But Anna would be lying if she had said she wasn't selfishly looking forward to it because she was getting the chance to meet a notorious profiler.

She arrived at the bar 15 minutes early and ran a hand through her hair, requesting a booth in the corner and grabbing the seat against the wall so that she could flag down her guest when he arrived. After all, she knew who he was but she wasn't sure he knew what she'd look like.

Hey, I'm here. Corner booth in the back. Anna finished her text and then wrapped her hands around her glass of red wine and rolled it a touch nervously. She was dressed casually enough for a drink at a bar, but then wondered if it might not have been casual enough. She's not wanting him to get the wrong impression of her, but then again... why should it matter?
